AFAIK, rather unique yes. Mainstream #ML languages do foster #FunctionalProgramming and "strong" #typing, but wrt. #Haskell, lack (for my liking) the containment of side-effects ("purity") and do not make #CallByNeed ("laziness") the default.
Longtime #OCaml user (up to 2014) here: I find GHC's #Haskell more integrated, mature and relieving wrt. taming complexity.
However, the #GHC codebase is way more complex than #OCaml's.
But watch #MichaelSnoyman's conf, he is more specific.
