Hey #designers, I am quite new to #ux #design and I am looking for #freesoftware to perform online card sorting, what should I use?
What should I read on this topic?
Also, is there any prototyping tool in the #floss world you would recommend?
@Gavy Oh yeah, I forgot about #pencil ! I tried once but not for long, widgets available looked so old I got discouraged
https://pencil.evolus.vn/
I took a look at #uxbox, but they say docker is for dev only and uxbox.io should not be used. No progress so far since april.

Also, it seems #precursor is available under an #opensource licence, it's probably worth a try.

@tham hi there! I normally don't use digital sorting tools but you might want to give Uzilla Mozdev card tool antry.
For prototyping low Fidelity stuff I would go with pencil.evolvus.vn whish is libre.
On the other non-libre spectrum and cross platform you have balsamic and foreUI
For high prototyping you have another set of tools.
Hey @Pedro, thank you for the reply! Indeed, I stumbled upon uzilla but the screenshots I saw scared the hell out of me.
I gave briefly a try to pencil, sadly the widget library was quite outdated. So as you say, maybe for low-fi that could work.
I could not find any #freesoftware really satisfying for #ui #design :/
@tham I hear you.. but in the Uzilla website they present a list of web alternatives.
Nevertheless I would recommend this workflow:
0. Research/analysis
1. Conceptual diagram
2. Create UID (user interaction diagram) with main user stories
3. Low Fidelity prototype (paper; pencil.evolvus anything that lacks aesthetic cluter so you can focus on user flows)
4. Design (gravit designer; vector; meetalva.io; akira by alecadd seems promising; Google.com/webdesigner
5.H.P
@tham I adjust the list so all are free as in gratis but not all are libre. I hope it helps #libresoftware #softwarelibre
@Pedro Thanks! I shall take more time to test again pencil and alva. :)
@tham
Pencils maybe for prototyping
