Would I be better replacing the screen (again) & installing #linux on my current laptop, or getting a second hand macbook?
I'm current on Windows 11 on an Asus Zenbook Duo with:
11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7.
16.0 GB ram.
I love that my current laptop has a 2nd mini screen, it is very useful for me.
It does seem to get very hot since the screen was changed last time - but it is also 4 years old.
I don't like Apple stuff but a friend said it's much more powerful.
I noticed a #feature that every #phone and #laptop should have but doesn't: Easy one click, or very feq click prevention of #ScreenLock. I am playing the flute and when I'm displaying sheet music on my laptop or on my phone if I have no other option, I can't touch the screen every few seconds. I'd like to set the screen to be always on, as easily as enabling location tracking or bluetooth.

Thinking of getting a refurbished Dell or Lenovo laptop to run linux on. Mostly to organise and process photos, but also some light CAD. I'll probably look for a laptop with 32gb ram.
The question is how much I should consider processor generation? Should I avoid laptops that are older than 11th gen intel processors?
Gen 9 and 10 are considerably cheaper, but I would like the computer to last a couple of years.

Ich brauche für die Berufsschule entweder Laptop oder Tablet. Wollte eigentlich ein Tablet aber eine Freundin hat mir gesagt das ist gar nicht so geil wenn man viel mit Texten machen muss. Das muss ich, auch relativ viel Excel.
Was könnt ihr dazu sagen?? Gerne auch teilen damit ich paar mehr Kommentare bekomme

Good or bad? My laptop with a 12th gen i7-12800H and an #nvidia A1000 gpu can sustain 3.8ghz turbo on all cores, almost a 1 ghz turbo (sustained) over the 2.9ghz promise from #intel. I am using Ollama and Gemma3:27b to beat on it. GPU is a bit of a lap potato of course and hovers around 65C, while the CPU rides 96C.
Tokens per second is about 25.
