Telmo 🦕<p>Just a word of warning—from experience! If you’re thinking about getting a Power Mac or anything in that modular/tower format… don’t do it. For your own good. It will become a slippery slope. I thought I was safe when I picked up an old Power Mac Graphite during <a href="https://masto.pt/tags/marchintosh" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>marchintosh</span></a> 2024, and now here I am, somehow at my 10th Macintosh tower. I never even had a Mac tower growing up—only all-in-ones like the Performa, later iMacs, and PowerBooks. You’ve been warned!</p><p><a href="https://masto.pt/tags/macintosh" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>macintosh</span></a> <a href="https://masto.pt/tags/apple" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>apple</span></a> <a href="https://masto.pt/tags/retrocomputing" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>retrocomputing</span></a></p>

Dan Morgan :ksu:<p>I recently stumbled upon the .yaff bitmap font file format. Every tool I researched is 404 or pretty iffy-looking if found at all. </p><p>I want to eventually convert these .yaff files to woff/woff2 through any series of steps. If that requires yaff to bdf to ttf to woff I’ll do it if I can find the tools and workflow. <br>Hell, I’ll do it by hand if I have to at this point. <br>Anyone done this on the last decade? <a href="https://vmst.io/tags/retrocomputing" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>retrocomputing</span></a> <a href="https://vmst.io/tags/unix" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>unix</span></a> <a href="https://vmst.io/tags/marchintosh" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>marchintosh</span></a></p>

dan 💾<p>My laser printer kept disconnecting from the network all through <a href="https://bitbang.social/tags/MARCHintosh" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>MARCHintosh</span></a>. But I've now got it plumbed directly in to the server (using the handy USB-over-cat5 thingamahoos) and it seems much happier. Poked around with papd a bit and it's set up with a nice little spool now that will collect AppleTalk print jobs when it's off and then release them when it's back on. Hopefully. Ideally. It seems to work for me, at least. <a href="https://bitbang.social/tags/LiveLaughLocalTalk" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>LiveLaughLocalTalk</span></a> 🖨️</p>
