His wife, Stina Östensdotter, had died 16 months previously and his son, Lars Persson, had taken over the croft in 1805. After raising 6 children and 2 stepchildren, Peter was probably ready to slow down. Fortunately his son was able to provide for him and Stina until their deaths, sparing them the horrors of the poorhouse.
