Ned Hairston :hehim: :theythem:
I'm working on an original translation of the Bible. My goal is to let the words of scripture guide my translation rather than reading a favored theology into the text. As the saying goes, "Where the Bible speaks, we speak, where it is silent, we are silent." In addition to being a formal equivalence, I try to preserve original idioms (with clarification in the footnotes), poetic and metaphorical language, and distinct synonyms (ie. land/ground/dust) where possible.

The text is available under a Creative Commons license. Chevra haChachamot
From Beit Toratah:
Join us for the study of Exodus 33, this Sunday 1–3 PM ET. We are entering the most intimate conversation between Tehovah and Mosha.

Tehovah tells Mosha to lead the people to the promised land but refuses to dwell among them due to their stubbornness. The Daughters of Tisraelah mourn and remove their jewelry. Mosha sets up the Tent of Meeting outside the camp, where Tehovah speaks to her face to face. Mosha pleads for Tehovah’s presence to remain with them, emphasizing that it is what sets them apart. Tehovah agrees and affirms Mosha’s favor. Mosha then asks to see Her glory. Tehovah agrees to reveal Her goodness, but only Her back, as no one can see Her face and live.

Register: https://us06web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZYvce6rpz8rG9Tvx1kVeRrk96wucyPJbzMX?mc_cid=e62f600fae#/registration

Study Materials: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1sg9HETGxI9vQoGpT2Rh4ayH8Pj_mcc6SwaGNMBLn01o/edit?mc_cid=e62f600fae&tab=t.0

See you on Sunday,
Yael, Tamar & the Beit Toratah team.

#Mazeldon #Jewniverse #Jewdiverse #Torah

Ned Hairston :hehim: :theythem:
Please help me descend to the depths of nerdery. At least Biblical nerdery. I'm writing a translation of the Bible and trying to crowdfund this to make it my job for the next few years to translate the Bible.

I think we can all agree that among biblical translators there are far too few furry, nonbinary, tabletop gamers and far too much bias.

This translation will be released for free under a CC-BY 4.0 license when it is finished. Miriam Anzovin
Shalom, friends! Welcome to “A Woman in An Act of Desperate Creativity: Chana’s Prayer Deep Dive with Ammud Rabbinic Intern Sass Brown.” In this chevruta session, Sass and I learn from the story of the prophet Chana as told in the Tanach, and the Talmud, to discover how Jewish prayer was shaped and defined by a woman. We also find some modern takeaways from Chana’s bold actions.

About Ammud: Ammud exists to empower Jews of Color by providing community and personalized support to gather and learn, unchallenged in their Jewishness. They provide access to the Jewish education needed to be empowered members and leaders of the broader Jewish community, creating space to celebrate marginalized customs and traditions and (re)build culture.

Sefaria sourcesheet for this episode is at the link in bio!
#jewishlearning #tanach #torah

https://youtube.com/watch?v=aNA7DRsdGK8&si=OTmdRn-jz0yU6NOn
