For <a href="https://squeet.me/profile/snipette" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@snipette</a> I used to maintain a dedicated Gitea (later Forgejo) instance installed via <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/YunoHost" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#YunoHost</a>, because we had a bunch of tools that we wanted to publish 🐶The "go-to" option nowadays is <a href="https://social.anoxinon.de/@Codeberg" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@Codeberg</a> (again running Forgejo), which we use for <a href="https://venera.social/profile/prav" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@prav</a> :xmpp:Besides Forgejo, there are a bunch of more minimal options like <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/sourcehut" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#sourcehut</a> and <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/humungus" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#humungus</a>

The following month I got a VPS, installed YH in less than 5 minutes, and everything just worked...I am on Mastodon already <a href="https://mastodon.social/@_elena" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@_elena</a> and I was hesitating between installing <a href="https://aseachange.com/tags/friendica" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Friendica</a> and <a href="https://aseachange.com/tags/sharkey" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Sharkey</a>. But people recommended <a href="https://aseachange.com/tags/gotosocial" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#GoToSocial</a> because it's really lightweight and features-packed. That's what I did - and I'm very happy about it.

It turns out the first time I tried to self-host Ghost via <a href="https://aseachange.com/tags/yunohost" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#YunoHost</a> was January 20th (that’s when I installed it on my Debian VPS). So not that long ago. But it does feel like 84 years LOL.My latest obstacle was a frozen Mailgun account because they flagged me as a spammer the first time I tried to send a blog post as a newsletter.My account has been fully reinstated (as of Friday evening) so hopefully things will go smoothly now.Triple-checking Mailgun <-> Ghost configurations is not my ideal way to spend a Sunday morning, but I should take advantage of my parents looking after my little one.
