Gay meowning fab fedi folks 👋 :FediverseSymbol:

Just in case any of you all need to be reminded of this today

  • Your worth is not defined by your executive function, or your ability to function well in an ableist, capitalistic society.
  • You are worthy of friendship, love, and kindeness.
  • You do matter.
  • Your wellbeing is paramount.

Please do something small for yourself / yourselves today if you can, even if it's just a 5 minute break, a choccy bar, or a nap.

You can has a little treat... for morale.

If you feel like everything's falling apart, just remember that you have everyone here for support :MentalHealthFlagHeart:

If you explode or implode, please remember that:

TFW: you've been working on a piece of software for long enough to start forgetting things about it (sometimes just minutes, other times months & years) and you come to it one morning things "this thing needs to be fixed/addressed, for sure" only to find out you already did so. Past you was so much smarter than now you!

I wonder if someone could (mis)use Inform7 enough to create a roguelike with it.

I’m thinking no — or, in any case, it would be *extremely* tough. Aside from the difficulty of creating the required user interface, Inform7 is missing some pretty key language concepts such as key/value dictionaries, and it is very difficult to handle any sort of dynamically created objects. This isn’t surprising, of course, since it was designed with text adventures in mind.

Good morning friends and fediverse.

Hope everyone has a great day today and rest of the week.

Picking up my sons first fishing rod today at Bass Pro Shop. He is so excited and we are going on a fishing trip in october. That should be fun.

Question for my #Anglers out there what type of setup should I get myself as a beginner? I was thinking getting a #baitcaster setup but not sure yet.

For me, having nothing specifically outlined for me to do at work is often way worse than being really busy — because I feel like I am slacking off, even if I’m really not, and I’m bored but also stuck there, and if I try to dive into something new to keep busy there’s a good chance I’ll hyperfocus on it and go overboard and it’ll all have to be thrown out anyway.

I imagine many, many folks with ADHD and anxiety issues feel the same.

You ever wake up and among your first thoughts are:

  • "Was the man from Del Monte real?"
  • "Does he still say yes?"

Then you go down a rabbit hole into the whole Man from Del Monte campaign and find out that he was played by a British actor called Brian Jackson, who is no longer living.

We did this morning.

Yes: we woke up early (around 05:30) and couldn't get back to sleep. And yes: we're very neurospicy. Why do you ask? 😅

I find Chappell Roan’s stuff to be super catchy, yet at the same time I feel like listening to it as a mostly-straight cis man is somehow transgressive, as though I were infiltrating space and knowledge that is meant to be forbidden to me.

I realize this is because her songs aren’t really meant for me, and frankly that’s great. But it also speaks to the larger damage that toxic masculinity does to all of us.

Medical model of disability pushing ABA therapy to teach Autistics how to mask natural Autistic traits through social conditioning and reinforcement gives colonialism vibes, conditioning a subjugated population to assimilate into the dominant culture by forced adopting of routines and behaviors from the dominant culture and hiding traits and behaviors of their own culture.

There are some obvious differences between the two, a culture is not a neurotype, but can't help but draw the parallel in my mind at the moment.

Gay meowning folks 👋🥱

Until this morning, we'd been mishearing part of a line in Texas Hold 'Em by Beyoncé.

Actual lyrics: So park your Lexus

What we'd been hearing: So pop your Lexus

We thought it was some weird cultural language thing, like popping (opening) the hood or the boot of car.

We were also imagining actually popping a Lexus with a pin or similar.

This continues the trend of us mishearing Beyoncé songs, going back to "all the single lettuce".
