The very nature of Mastodon makes attracting random people to you a little more difficult. My best recommendation is to post to specific hashtags. Maybe <a href="https://mstdn.games/tags/books" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>books</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.games/tags/nonfiction" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>nonfiction</span></a> whatever best fits you. Do an introduction post and see if the community will boost you for exposure. Lastly I’d ditch using the standard Mastodon phone app. If your on iPhone apps like Trunks, Orbit or Ice Cubes. On Android maybe Moisidon or Tusky. They offer a federated feed which allows you to see in order every post that’s made on Mastodon. Boost others posts and ensure to post often. There a few huge players here including George Takei getting them to boost or like something may get you decent exposure as well. Best of luck!</p>
