Yesterday morning's light #snow on a #RockGarden in front of the house, only partly melted out of the #winter snow pack (highest part is a lot of snow; mounds in the background just snow). The house is just to the right, so it has been shovelled there and also the light/heat reflects off the wall, so that side melts first though it is north facing. A lighter dusting last night, still lots of winter snow around, but days in the low to mid teens C coming. #Spring #garden #Alberta #Canada #weather

A large mound of snow several feet high comes into frame from the left. It conceals and rises above a rock bed, which we can just see to the right where some rocks and dry stems have melted out of the winter snow pack, now lightly/partly covered in fresh snow. To the right we see a bit of mowed brown grass which has been shovelled and melted out. Beyond the rock bed, mid right is another grassy area, still freshly snowed but starting to show through. Above centre and left are more mounds of shovelled snow with bits of dry grass, tree trunks and a shovelled strip showing through in the blurred background. The sun is coming through trees out of sight farther away, and partly lighting the snow with blue shadows where it doesn't land.

Frosty

This image was captured right after a decent snow storm came through Yosemite Valley.
This beautiful snow covered tree stood out against the muted evergreens behind them.
The snow was unbroken and presents a beautiful white carpet leading back to the tree.
The oak, with it's broad branches seemed to have captured more snow than those around it.

Frosty This is an image of a snow-covered oak tree captured in Yosemite Valley just after a winter storm moved through the valley. The foreground of the image is a white carpet of undisturbed snow. The oak tree "Frosty" is framed on the left by the branches of another oak. The right side of Frosty is framed by some taller Douglas Fir pine trees. Snow pretty much covers everything but the colors of the tree fight to break through. You can see a nice green under the branches of the pine trees. If you look at "Frosty" you can see hints of brown on the branches and trunk.

This is my oc Ramisallia who heavily underestimated the temperature, but now it's too late for her to go back because the snow is too beautiful (nooo, don't follow that snowflake, it's a trap!)

HIMMELI II

In the frame of our project PRESERVED // Rågens rike / Finnland 204/25 we dealt with the traditional himmeli objects that are made of rye straw and are now used as a traditional Christmas decoration. In the former days they would be used to ask for a good harvest. In our winter chapter (November 2024) we asked the people of the area where our project is taking place (Vörå in Finland-Sweden) to join us to create a huge himmeli by using light tubes. The village came and in joint forces the ephermeral himmeli installation was created.

The whole project is carried out with the help of the village.

Our next stay will take place soon, stay tuned.

Der Balfrin Gipfel mit dem Balfringletscher im letzten Sonnenlicht des Tages. Wir waren auf der gegenüberliegenden Talseite unterwegs und das Abendlicht hat die eingefrohrenen und vergletscherten Bergflanken in magisches Licht getaucht. Die Wolken über den Gipfeln haben ihre Schatten über die Szene gestreut und so hat sich das Balfrin-Massiv in seiner ganzen Schönheit gezeigt. Wer genau hinschaut, der kann im Vordergrund noch die Seetal-Bergstation, unterhalb des Seetalhorns, vom Skigebiet in Grächen erkennen.

The Balfrin summit in the last sunlight of the day. We were on the opposite side of the valley and the evening light bathed the frozen and glaciated mountain flanks in magical light. The clouds above the peaks scattered their shadows across the scene, revealing the Balfrin massif in all its beauty. If you look closely, you can still make out the Seetal mountain station, below the Seetalhorn, from the ski resort in Grächen in the foreground.

Hochalpine Berglandschaft. Berggipfel mit umgebendem Gletscher und Felspartien im Vordergrund. Das Licht ist metallisch-blau, die Abendsonne taucht die Berggipfel in ein fahles Licht. Oberhalb der Berggipfel sieht man dunkle Wolkenfetzen und unterhalb der Gipfel ist - ganz klein - eine Sessellift-Bergstation zu erkennen. --- High alpine mountain landscape.
