I notice that the version number is gone from the About page. This time it's pretty obvious that I'm running 7.1.0 given this UI change, but where do I check the version I'm running in the future?

It's under "Technical Informations", under the "Platform" tab of the "About" page.

I just double checked by logging in with the root account.

I just noticed you need to fill the description of "What server/hardware your instance run on?", in the admin settings, for this tab to show up.
