It was nice to see so many people dress up and have fun at the Carillon today. When the clavier players came out, Peter was dressed as Obi-Wan too.

Today Australia wakes up to a new political landscape.
ALP majority government, devastated LNP group, community (and other) Independents maintaining their presence in Reps and Senate. Greens holding on.
How this plays out? I'll leave this to those with more front or knowledge.
It will be interesting to watch.
@CAPADAUS will continue working to make our political system work more democratically.

“‘His knowledge of the works in our collection was extraordinary, and he instantly understood the arc of art history and the way that we’ve deployed the collection to tell that story,’ Mitzevich says.
“He stopped in front of #BluePoles and said ‘Oh, well, this is one of the most important works of the 20th century, and you’ve hung it next to [a work by #Pollock’s wife Lee Krasner], oh and look at the de Kooning in dialogue’. And he was equally fascinated by things that he hadn’t seen before, like #SidneyNolan’s #NedKelly [series].” A)
VS
“In 2016 a new #Liberal senator, a mere stripling of twenty-eight years, had a foolproof idea for getting himself noticed. #JamesPaterson told the media the government should sell #JacksonPollock’s #abstract #expressionist masterpiece, Blue Poles.
“Some people feel like they’ve got a real attachment to Blue Poles, and I understand that,” said Paterson, who had come to parliament from the free-market #InstituteofPublicAffairs. “I don’t think it’s a good enough reason for the Australian government to tie up such a significant amount of #money in a single painting which is hung in a #gallery in #Canberra most of the year, and which most #Australians won’t ever see face to face in their #lifetimes. It’ll only be #worth something to #taxpayers when we #sell it.” B)
This is why we vote.

In other news, David Pocock is fucking crushing it.
(He appears to be the leading senate candidate for the ACT)

@luciedigitalni It’s been in #BRADDON for a few years now. Oh well, it is what it is. #Canberra #StreetArt
Well, that’s one impressive piece of #canberra #StreetArt that I expect to disappear in the coming months. Pity really, I quite like it.
edit: I wasn’t able to get all the #alttext I wanted in. So the missing bit is “In the foreground the carpark is fenced off with a sign “Construction Site Unauthorized Persons Keep Out”.”
Wahl in Australien - Richtungsentscheidung für ein Land unter Druck

Successive underpasses in (I think) Hughes ACT. Can't fault the sentiment.
I think they all went up last night, or this morning maybe.
Day 32
Things are coming in thick and fast today, so I’ll try to summarise the major themes.
No Policies of the #Liberal, #LNP and #Coalition.
#AngusTaylor (Opposition Treasurer, Liberal) hands in his #Economics homework late, it’s got problems.
A derivative that is toxic
“A Coalition government would drive the #budget deeper into #deficit over the coming two years, as the shadow finance minister, #JaneHume, insisted her party’s plan to save $17.2bn by #slashing the number of #Canberra-based #PublicServants by 41,000 through “natural attrition” was achievable.”
If returned to power, the Coalition would gut a long list of environment and clean energy programs, including #scrapping the #NetZero #Economy #Agency, reversing Labor’s #TaxBreaks for #ElectricVehicles, and redirecting money slated for the #HomeBatteries program.
#Reversing tax incentives for green hydrogen would save $1.5bn over four years, and not proceeding with Labor’s critical mineral production tax credits would save $1.2bn, the Coalition’s election policy costings show.”

Street of gold.

It’s a shortish street……well, a crescent, really. And in autumn, it has the most stunning golden canopy.
At this time of the year the street is a magnet for selfies and groupies. Everyone parks in the street and then tries to get a shot without cars in it.
Not today. Today, its been raining. And this late in the season tumbled gold paves the road.
Storm rolling in. Mt Ainslie.

It’s been ages since I have been on top of Mt. Ainslie. Back when I lived at the nearby hospital (now gone), I used to haul-arse ride my bike up the trails to the summit before swooshing down the relatively straight and super speedy road. Whoops and death wobbles the whole way.
I had certainly forgotten the superb view. Perhaps the best 360 panoramic view of Canberra.
And today a storm was rolling in. The clouds were lit and the God was auditioning as a concert lighting technician.
I tried to catch something of the moment and somewhat failed. But not as much as the dude selling ice cream and crushing the pre-storm ambiance with his cranky generator.
All Canberrians, and people who want to travel to Canberra in July, the Canberra Vintage Computer Exhibition is back on this year, on Saturday the 19th of July. There will be an invite only day on the Sunday, however there's no details yet on it.
Come along and see vintage computers and video game consoles, as well as talks and round table discussions. And me :)
This year it is being hosted at another school, details can be found in the attached image.
Canberra, this will be fun. I er, know some people on the panel.
OK yes I'll be on the panel too. Delicious food and wine too!
