MPI für Meteorologie

The #ERC-funded Q-Arctic project is exploring the consequences of global warming for the #Arctic. ❄️🌿 The challenge is to reconcile the process scale –what happens in the soil or a water body– & the scale of satellite observations 🛰️ & model simulations 🌐, given the heterogeneity of Arctic landscapes. 💧🧊🌲 Last week, the team met at Schloss Ringberg in Bavaria 🏰 to discuss the current state of the project. On discutait avec un collègue de la gueule de formulaires des AAP dans l’ESR, et je me demande encore pourquoi il y pas eu d’AAP pour monter un projet afin de former les gens à faire quelque chose qui soit pas du word de merde dégueulasse (entrée entrée entrée entrée pour faire un saut de page, TMTC), pour la rédaction des formulaires d’AAP. Voir même, AU PIF, qu'on ait des pdf modifiables avec des champs. 🙏

Et encore ne parlons pas des suivis de budget fais avec Excel.

Et on se demande où faire des économies. 🫠

This will be a challenge to the fediverse connecting abilities: I need to make a costume of a #trilobite and of #Anomalocaris. I am looking for any help: someone has made one already and is happy to share the details, a costume designed willing to take up the challenge, a handwork hobbyist with a knack for sewing/cardboard magic who always want to launch their skills onto a bigger stage. We are making a #science show for kids as part of my #ERC project MindTheGap and we will be explaining #evolution using #fossils. #Cambrian fossils 😄 If you have any hints, contacts, old costumes, please get in touch. Join our institute in Potsdam, Germany! We offer an ERC-funded PhD student positions at the @mpi_grav in Potsdam.

We are particularly interested in hiring creative, proactive and motivated candidates who flourish at working in a vibrant, interdisciplinary and synergistic group. Successful candidates will join the research group “Symmetries in Gravity and Amplitudes” with the Quantum Gravity and Unified Theories division.

The PhD research will focus on mathematical structures of scattering amplitudes, more specifically amplitudes associated with Riemann surfaces as they appear in string theory.

The successful applicant will conduct their research projects at the AEI in Potsdam, and they will have to enrol and receive their PhD degree from the Humboldt University in Berlin. The expected duration of the PhD is three to four years. Applicants are required to have a Master degree by the start of the PhD program.
