If you're looking for escapism that also has political relevance, I will join everyone's praises of 1000xRESIST -- it's an incredibly rich narrative game, with plenty to say about authoritarianism (grounded in the story of Hong Kong's pro-democracy movement).
Beyond that, it's great sci-fi. You're sure to find echoes of other tales ("Arrival" came to my mind), but its layered story is very much its own.
Expect a playtime of at least 10 hours or so. Played it on #SteamDeck with no issues.

I don't get the strategy behind this. Microsoft doesn't really know what they are doing, it seems. They are now more relying on #streaming with #gamepassultimate and it is rumored that there might be a mobile XBox platform. If so, I don't get it. Why aren't they simply use the #valve #steamdeck and offer an official application for playing Game Pass Games that natively work on Steamdeck or can be streamed? Everybody would love that.
