@se_davidobrien Have you ever considered a trike? They come in lots of shapes and sizes (we have two recumbents) - not ridden because of balance issues, but for the joy of it.
But a bell is essential - and why people remove them baffles me

For reference, I have asthma, joint pain, social anxiety, and depression.
Exercise is great, yeah, but ADHD and capitalism make it difficult to schedule, plan for, adapt, and undergo.
The parasomnia means I can't guarantee being rested enough to drive to class on time.
I think technically you're not supposed to cycle either, if you're not rested / sober enough, but I take mild issue with that.
A bicycle is NOT capable of causing as much damage as a damn car, even a tiny Smart ForTwo car.
(Obv this won't help if you have severe joint issues, unsafe roads, or lack storage for it, but still. Fantastic commute option, personally. Just needs a rain canopy that somehow survives harsh English winds and we'd be laughing all the way to the bank. Of a very pretty river.)

@meganL yikes. We're experiencing a reversal on infrastructure here in #Boston, too. The Mayor seems to be mulling a cynical campaign pivot to meet her opponent's anti-bike bids to the #CarCentrism chuds. Lots of existing improvements under threat pending a "review" (poll, I'm sure) period
we had a lovely e-trike (Lectric) riding with #CriticalMass #Boston last week in some protest action to compliment some lobbying action to encourage the Mayor not to make a cynical campaign pivot to #CarCentrism to compete with her anti-bike opponent.
It was a pleasure to have #Trike representation in our mass. It left me thinking about how wonderful it is that we can move in different ways, but share the joy of riding, and stand as political allies. And about how that kind of solidarity isn't specific to bikes in a life well lived.

Doing with the #KMX #recumbent #trike what it was built for (KMX stands for Kart #BMX): Doing silly and fun things like #drifting and #powerslide|s. And tipping over when the #slowmotion finally worked.
So here you see me in slow motion proving that you really can tip over a low tadpole style recumbent trike, even with less friction having knobby MTB tires on tarmac.

P.S.: I'm fine. I tipped over about half of all tries. It was a lot of fun!

Does anyone here have a recommendation for a side-by-side adult trike or quad bike?
My parents want to be more active, but one has balance and knee issues, while the other has leg strength issues. If I could get them on one bike or e-bike I think they would cruise the town.
(One parent is oddly particular about having MTB tires as they live on a gravel bike trail

Wenn man mit dem Fahrrad unterwegs ist und nur der kurze weg über die S-Bahnschienen die Weiterfahrt hindert muss man halt das Liegedreirad anheben um an den Drängelgitter vorbei zu kommen.

Das war heute der erste etwas längere Test mit unserer Fahrrad-Hund-Tour. 13 km. Der Hundeanhänger ist erstmal zur Gewöhnung mit dabei aber noch nicht groß im Einsatz.
