Wow.

1. ubuntu doesn't acknowledge the FOSS debian core of ubuntu as part of the ubuntu history or story.

2. ubuntu refers to ubuntu as an open source project, which I don't believe is true. I think much of the ubuntu owned software is not open source, and is also offered in paid tiered ubuntu services, which actually includes security updates that ubuntu keeps closed source and are not integrated to benefit the debian core, so that ubuntu can sell their proprietary software.

I should clarify that ubuntu is my daily driver. I think it's awesome that Ubuntu comes preinstalled on Nvidia's mini Jetson Nano robot super-SBCs. That's all awesome.

In the last few years, I think ubuntu's relationship to debian has changed significantly to the point that it's important to think about changing my daily driver back to debian. I'd like to not boycott ubuntu because I've grown comfortable, but switching distros is fun and inevitable.
