FYI: Mozilla changed/created a TOS.
#Android #Browser options are:

- IronFox: Continuation of Mull, uBlock Origin by default, user.js settings here https://codeberg.org/ironfox-oss/IronFox/issues/14#issuecomment-2861611, source on Codeberg
- Privacy Browser: doesn't make any wild claims, transparent about what it can do and why, uses built-in webview so install is small, built-in adblocking, source on personal Git. Monocles fork exists.
I stand by PB.
On Desktop, popular choices are:
- LibreWolf: custom FF, tracking, & fingerprinting protection, uBO, hardened, source on Codeberg
- Zen: (Beta) custom FF with UI/UX enhancements, tracking and adblocking protection, GitHub
- Floorp: Similar to Zen, Privacy Policy is not in English yet, GitHub.
- Ladybird: Independent browser with big name sponsors, GitHub
- Privacy Browser: Qt WebEngine, JavaScript and cookies off by default, minimizes data being sent without breaking sites, personal Git.

@bbbhltz Vanilla Firefox has been weak for a long time. Anyone who cares enough about their recent TOS changes should probably be using a fork anyway.

All good choices, I think.
I will probably switch to #IronFox as my backup browser on Android. After Mull I moved to Fennec. I only use it for about 4 websites so I'm in no rush.
@bbbhltz @Seldon @PsychoticBudgie I generally use Librewolf on desktop. Have heard good things about Zen but haven't tried it.

@bbbhltz can advocate for Zen being Pretty Nice
it’s definitely a beta in terms of the extras (like customisation or key bindings for the Arc-style navigation) but works perfectly fine for regular browsing

@bbbhltz Ladybird declined an edit to make all general "he" pronouns in the documentation into "they", stating that it's too political. That was the project founder who declined that edit for that reason and hasn't gone back on it, still has a sour taste in my mouth.

@JBrickelt963 sage décision aussi et je pense que beaucoup de gens vont faire comme toi, on réagit un peu vite des fois. Je suis sur FF maintenant, LibreWolf est installé et quand j'ai un moment je ferai le transfert
@bbbhltz effectivement et en même temps si une réaction vive peut leur faire reconsidérer la situation ce n'est pas plus mal.
Je reconnais que j'ai pas étudié des masses les autres solutions. Bien que LibreWolf revienne assez souvent dans les recommandations les dernières années.

Suggestions for FF alternates on iPhone and Windows, which will ideally let me sync history and tabs between them (as FF does)?
Seems that browser options for one tend to not be available on the other.
New thought thanks to this thread: Would different FF forks sync across those two platforms?
@reay if the fork hasn't removed the sync feature, yet.
e.g. IronFox still lets you sign into and sync with other FF browsers. So does Fennec. But, LibreWolf turns it off. Not sure if it is disabled or fully removed. If it is disabled then going to about:config will let you flip it back on.
So, you could use Focus on iPhone and maybe sync with LibreOffice on Windows?

@bbbhltz I'm on Zen Browser, a fork of Firefox, and also Firefox Nightly on my phone (since, when I installed it, it had better addon support than stable) and Fenix F-Droid on my tablet. Android told me Nightly now claims your location data for advertising purposes. So.
The only real alternative is (reskinned) Chrome, which is even worse if you can believe it, so unfortunately I won't. (I probably should switch away from Nightly and to Fenix F-Droid on my phone, though.)

@bbbhltz Ta. Atm i continue to not panic, & opine [pending further info] that Mozilla have merely been hugely clumsy & ham-fisted here, rather than actually malignant. Shall certainly change my view if/when future actual data [not internet FUD hysteria like has been happening] surfaces. Until that putative day, i still see no reason for me to stop using my

@MsDropbear42 I also think there will be a backpedal, and if not so be it.
@bbbhltz I have switched to Vivaldi a while back, but kept Firefox as backup browser. Now I am going to change that as well.
