#ElSalvador's in the news a lot right now because the Trump administration shipped a few hundred people off to that country's incredibly dangerous new mega prison, #CECOT.

What seems to have gone unnoticed in all the reporting, however, is Salvadoran dictator #NayibBukele's outsized role in the world of cryptocurrency and through that his direct connections to the Trump administration via Commerce Secretary #HowardLutnick and #Tether.

🚨 Wall Street Journal reporting that #Tether, the company whose $100 billion is managed by the chairman of the #Trump transition team #HowardLutnick, is being criminally investigated for #moneylaundering and #sanctions evasion by the American Dept. of Justice.

Hardly surprising seeing as how a) criminals and rogue states (#Iran, #NorthKorea) freely use Tether's token #USDT and b) someone found a poorly redacted US government contract a few years back for "Tether Investigation".

What is surprising is #DOJ chose this moment to leak the investigation to the press. Could be a final warning to the #crypto "investing" public that S is about to HTF.
