<en.opensuse.org/OpenZFS#ZFS_on> openSUSE does not yet support ZFS on root.

It's not an essential feature, however I'm accustomed to it, so Kubuntu might be an option.

I didn't include these two distros in the poll because my experience with them is so outdated (I toyed with OpenSUSE, maybe on PowerPC, around two decades ago …).

Je suis bluffé par la facilité avec laquelle Kubuntu s'est installé sur ce MacBook Pro de fin 2011 exhumé des armoires de notre service d'intendance. Cette machine n'avait pas été allumée depuis 2014, est repartie comme un charme, mais avec un macOS impossible à mettre à jour.
Deux heures plus tard, voici une machine prête à l'emploi, disponible pour les élèves en cas de besoin.

Strongly agree.
By the way, it's the same with computer operating systems. Most people believe they have only two or three choices. That commercial software which is all geared towards mining users is the only one possible.
No, it isn't. There are dozens of free, community operating systems.
Many of them can be combined, their components are compatible.

So, a lot of different perspectives will be here. Sometimes I’ll be writing from KDE’s pov, sometimes Ubuntu’s and sometimes my own.

Io avevo trovato il mio zen con #Kubuntu (che di fatto è Ubuntu + KDE che io adoro), ma questa notizia mi sconvolge, significa dover ricominciare tutto da capo con un'altra distro 😞

Bisogna vedere se questa storia non creerà un precedente, secondo me è molto grave, ma è passata quasi sotto silenzio nel mondo Linux e la cosa forse è ancora più inquietante...

Zuerst hab ich #LinuxMint installiert. Das war toll, aber in meinen Spielen funktionierte Alt-zum-Item-highlighten nicht.

Die #PopOS Oberfläche sah altbacken aus und hatte das gleiche Alt-Problem

Dann hab ich #KDE auf #Mint installiert und war happy. Bis nach einen Update der Discover App store nicht mehr funktionierte, und damit auch Updates nur noch über Konsole.

#Kubuntu hat Snaps die ewig luden, das hab ich schnell wieder weggemacht.

Dann hatte ich wieder #Mint mit #KDE, aber Discover war immer noch kaputt

Auf #Debian mit KDE bekam ich Steam nicht anständig ans laufen.

Auf #PikoOS das Gleiche Problem.

#Nobara lief prima, aber der Store ist textbasiert, und die Spaltenbreite nicht änderbar. Ich kann also die Beschreibung nie ganz lesen.

#OpenSuse kam mit meinem Monitor-Setup nicht klar und schaltete ständig random einen oder 2 aus. 😳
Oder entfernte jegliche Interaktion, zeigte ein Fenster aber noch an. Sehr Merkwürdig.

... jetz hab ich doch wieder #Nobara, weil es am wenigsten weh tut. Und ärger mich, das ich ein eigentlich gut laufendes System gelöscht hab.

For my personal laptop I moved from Windows10 to #Kubuntu (Ubuntu with @kde). This is a stop to boycott #Windows11.

After getting root on my Android device I installed @LineageOS.
Instead of Linux there is limited support for LineageOS. I recommend to buy a supported device: https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/

On desktop I replaced Chrome with @librewolf. As fallback I run #Firefox and a degoogled #Chromium. As librewolf is not available on Android I use @Waterfox here. Both support my Firefox profile I have since 2004.

On LineageOS and Android the new default Appstore is @fdroidorg, for proprietary apps #AuroraStore (fdroid).

No bragging, but solve-my-own situation here by creating KDE Migrant now kind of exploded into 37 people starring the repo just over the course of a week. I hope it serves them well. I deem the v2 to be as feature complete as needed, but maybe somebody will find some bug or an edge case.

#Mastodon, j'ai un souci, et j'aurais bien besoin d'aide.
Je veux installer une #Kubuntu fraîche sur un ordi qui n'a pas été mis à jour depuis la version 18.04 (oui, ça fait longtemps).
Cet ordi, un #Asus N752vx-gc195T, tourne actuellement avec un dual-boot Kubuntu-Windows.

J'ai fait un #liveCD et une #liveUSB pour mon #install mais les deux, après un passage par l'écran #Grub, ne me proposent qu'un écran noir.

J'ai modifié tous les paramètres de la clé et du bios (MBR, EFI etc.). Désactivé le secure boot. Ajouté les paramètres nomodeset, acpi=off lors du lancement de Grub. Essayé la version 22.04
Rien.
La seule chose que j'aie, c'est un écran un peu plus verbeux lorsque je remplace "quiet" par "verbose", mais qui plante en quelques poignées de secondes et me laisse comme sur la photo ci-dessous.

Je ne sais plus quoi faire. #help
