One thing I have from immutable (atomic) distros, and is how cumbersome is installing apps that require root permissions.

Supposedly you have to use Distrobox. Even that never worked for me. I always have to resort to `rpm-ostree` and then uninstall it so BootC can update the system. Every single time.

There are five types of users who may try Linux instead of Windows, one a couple of distros for each one of them.

1. Complete newbies: ZorinOS
2. Students and office workers: VanillaOS
3. Windows refugees: Mint
4. Content creators: Mint, Fedora Workstation
5. Programmers: Universal Blue (Fedora Atomic)

Turns out there is absolutely nothing keeping you from creating an OCI (Docker/Podman/whatever) container image with nothing but a static binary. It just works. Not that it's actually super surprising, but you don't even have to do any convincing of any tools whatsoever to just do that for you.

A terminal window with a few commands that have been run: First, listing the files of a barebones Zig project and a Dockerfile. Then, a listing of the Dockerfile containing just FROM scratch COPY zig-out/bin/distroless-oci distroless-oci ENTRYPOINT [ "./distroless-oci" ] Then, a successful build of said Dockerfile with Podman. Lastly, running the built image with Podman, which simply prints out "Hello, distroless Docker!" Look, mom! No distro!
