#Wales #CoastPath trainings walk.

New shoes and sock combination. And a late start thanks to the farmers' market and gardening.

We walked a total of just under 17 (10.5 mi) kilometres today, at an average speed of 5 km/h (3.1 mi/h).

Of course with some #BloomScrolling, #butterfly s, #Trees , and #Forest on the way.

Some highlights:

- a meadow covered with numerous yellow dandelion plants

- a pretty dense forest ( #HambiBleibt ) with obstacles on the way

That's a wrap on a busy training week in Eryri. One (1) day of good weather and 5 of wind and rain. I trained 4 days out of 6, with 2 rest days (enforced by the weather, but probably a good idea.)

I seconded some grade 2 and 3 scrambles in the Glyderau as part of a course. It was my first time at this grade and made trickier due to weather conditions and greasy rock. (Routes completed: Idwal Buttress on Glyder Fawr, Chimney Crack on Tryfan Bach, Bastow Buttress Variant and North Tower on Tryfan, plus some grade 1 gullies in descent).

Challenging but highly enjoyable. I also solo ran/hiked/scrambled the Snowdon Horseshoe route, my first time up Crib Goch.

I'd wanted to do two more classic horseshoes (Cwm Bochlywd, Carneddau Southern Ridges), but strong winds and heavy rain looked like too much risk. So I swapped in a low level run around the Ogwen Valley to get some elevation in on rough mountain terrain, with a bit of grade 1 scrambling up False Gribin too.

Advanced Scrambling course day 1 of 2. Two scramblers, wearing orange and end-roped together negotiate a steep, wet, rocky gully. They are belayed by an unseen lead. In the background through drinking rain is Llyn Idwal and the lower slopes of Pen Yr Ole Wen. Stats show 5.1km distance, 440m elevation gain, and 1 hour 48 minutes moving time.
Advanced Scrambling day 2 of 2. A scrambler wearing a white helmet and orange jacket kneels on a ledge overlooking a deep mountain ravine. On closer inspection, they are safely on belay, so the position is not as precarious as it looks. Stats show 5.7km distance travelled, 633 metres elevation gain, and 2 hours 25 minutes moving time (the day was in fact approx 8 hours, but in the steepest climbs it often didn't detect movement).
Snowdon Horseshoe (+Pyg detour). Yr Wyddfa summit rises above the rugged knife-edge Arete of Crib Goch. Stats show 16 km distance, 1,245 metres elevation gain, and 3 hours 23 moving time (elapsed time was nearer 5 hours, the steepest climb up Crib Goch east ridge didn't register as movement as the gradient was up to 50% and progress slow).

Daily #Wales with an apt #FensterFreitag for Easter weekend.

There’s been a church here since the 400s, with links to St Patrick. St Tanwg’s is a magical place, half buried in the dunes and without electricity, so services and concerts (I go to the latter) are held in candlelight.

I hope you enjoy this wash fold I captured today, because it was the hardest walk through the most awful terrain I've ever undertaken!

Some past, not very good studies have suggested round forms indicate building over prehistoric structures, but this is invariably not the case.

Rounder enclosures instead just cause less panic in sheep and are often easier to build when the stone supply is limited.

Last year was our first Pride (Balchder in Welsh), and thanks to signal boosts on Mastodon and Tumblr it was fully funded within 24 hours, it was EPIC and the organisers were so chuffed that they COULD NOT EVEN.
