Here’s a critter you might not recognize: the ring-tailed vontsira (Galidia elegans)! Found in the forests of Madagascar, this small carnivore weighs up to 2 lbs (0.91 kg) and has a varied diet that includes insects, eggs, fish, and small mammals. The ring-tailed vontsira is an agile critter, an excellent climber, and is known to be playful.

#Arum plants start to flower. At the right Arum maculatum + Arum immaculatum (more in alt txt). Birds eat the seeds at the edge of the forest and plant them with their droppings into the gardens.

Arum immaculatum, flower: borne on a poker-shaped inflorescence called a spadix, which is partially enclosed in a pale green spathe or leaf-like hood. The spathe can be up to 25 cm high and the fruiting spike which follows later in the season may be up to 5 cm. The flowers are hidden from sight, clustered at the base of the spadix with a ring of female flowers at the bottom and a ring of male flowers above them.

Happy #caturday everyone. Here is Jasper letting me know he threw up his breakfast. He always comes to me after he throws up and wants to cuddle. I guess it’s his way of letting me know. Thankfully he rarely makes it far from his bowl so clean up is usually easy. However this morning he puked right into a heating register. 🙄
