My personal alternative (might not cover your use case, but works for me) has very little #electronics: One #dynamoHub and two #LED lamps, buffered by capacitors

How am I JUST NOW learning about these LED light bulbs that charge while they're on, and can be used to provide light during blackouts??!!?!?
“Using photometric and spectroscopic sensors, we observed up to 50% night sky darkening during Earth Hour from 2011 to 2024 in Hong Kong, primarily as a result of a small but critical number of lights-out instances in central business districts, as evidenced by crowd-sourced photography records. The emission reductions mostly occurred in the 445–500, 500–540, and 615–650 nm spectral ranges---corresponding to peak emissions from LED billboard screens--- and in the 585–595 nm range, associated with metal halide floodlights used for facades and billboards. Our study identifies these sources as major contributors to urban light pollution.”

‘RiG’ a one of concrete and stainless steel light sculpture. Four tapered inox steel legs hold up a rectangular concrete frame. At the bottom a black double insulated power cable with cord switch is fed into the frame. At the top two white fibreglass braided silicone wires lead out towards the embedded concrete light module..

It's a real low point when your screen is so ancient that even in complete darkness, you have to light up the room just to see what's on it!
