#UKRAINE SUPPORTS 90% OF TRUMP'S #PEACE PLAN: Ukraine’s Defense Minister, Rustem Umerov, told the American side that Kyiv is “90%” aligned with Donald Trump’s proposed peace plan, according to The New York Post. The ceasefire may be reached as early as next week.

It’s a terrifying picture. And yet, across the #EU, it still feels like many leaders are attending a #peace conference from 2012. There’s talk of “de-escalation” and “dialogue” and “avoiding provocation and World War 3,” as if we were all guests at a slightly awkward cocktail party, not the brink of a continental #conflict.

Everything in #Russian society has been militarized. Education, religion, culture, the economy, each sector now serves the war effort. There are no more independent institutions, no space for protest or doubt. People have been trained to either cheer the bombs or stay silent. #Russia prepares for a much larger, much more destructive #war. And it’s not alone. In short, Russia is not preparing for #peace, but for more war.

1/2 🇺🇦Never Forget #Kharkiv —Supporting Ukraine

📬Today, I received a package from Kat, a Ukrainian from Kharkiv now living in #Australia. She fundraises for cats and children in Kharkiv, a city still under daily attack.

✨Kat and her partner, Doomsayer , do so much good for Ukraine. One of her gifts—a Kharkiv magnet—is more than a souvenir. It’s a symbol of survival, culture, and resilience. Alongside it was a photo with a stark reminder: "Ukraine needs air defense."

The big reason #Russia doesn't want #peace or #ceasefire is that if they stop now, the clunking, rattling and disheveled #war machine #economy they built will collapse under its own weight - and so will Russia.

This is also why #Europe and the #EU are supporting #Ukraine financially, because they know it's a #WarOfAttrition at this point and it's only a matter of time until the big bear falls to it's knees and can't get back up again.

@siracusa John Lithgow --> 20 Lessons on Tyranny

Now, more than ever, we need the wisdom of our intellects, the patriotism of our citizens, and the passion and talents of those who still believe in the American experiment. I am deeply grateful to Timothy Snyder for his 20 Lessons On Tyranny and for talents of the brilliant John Lithgow for bringing them to life.

THE AUTISTIC HERMIT AGAIN...

I don't have much life left to waste on vain dreams, on banal nonsense. I don't want to live my final years asleep, with my mind numb and agitated. Online digital life isn't life. Over the years, you learn that the internet and technology are more of a curse than a means of progress.
I know it's very likely I don't have many years left in this life, and I don't want to spend them scrolling on a screen like a sleepy idiot. The bug-hunting cat is disappearing from online life. I've already closed most of the accounts in its name. For now, I'm only keeping Github accounts and a few platforms I use for programming, but I've changed the usernames on all of them. Besides Mastodon, obviously, I use Instagram for entertainment and because I manage work accounts for some family members.
Of all the things you can do online, I'm sticking with things that involve very little or no social interaction.
And I've thought about going back to teaching at home like I used to.
Basically, this year I've resolved to gradually withdraw from social and online life to a tolerable degree that doesn't overwhelm me or deprive me of the peace my old autistic-bipolar brain needs to function better.
The internet (or rather, social media) is becoming a toxic hellscape that it's best to stay away from.
