I've lost count of how many times I've tried to retroactively formulate goals so that they led to the result I have for some other reason (for official reporting purposes). The last time being half an hour ago.

Although Tiago's (and anyone's) formal embrace of irrationality never fails to creep me out. Rational decision-making isn't reduced to SMART goals, nor to the use of thinking mind.

Of all the #AI and #LLM releases that have exploded onto the scene as of late, I have got to say that NotebookLM by Google is probably my favourite

It's certainly more niche as a product, but what it focuses on it absolutely excels at (I just hope they don't kill it as it's still in beta)

If I had NotebookLM when I was at university I would have been unstoppable

The U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) — the government’s human resources wing that has been transformed into a Musk cut-out — had initially said responses were voluntary. But in an update to its privacy impact assessment (PIA) last Friday, OPM removed wording describing responses as “explicitly voluntary.” The new PIA states, “The consequences for failure to provide the requested information will vary depending on the particular email at issue.” President Donald Trump has also said that federal employees who do not respond could lose their jobs. The scramble to respond to Musk’s email has led to inefficiencies for federal workers, including at the Dept of Veterans Affairs (VA)... Another employee at the agency told HuffPost that their managers became “mired in daily meetings to discuss ... how it was affecting employees and overall morale, and addressing whether or not any of this is legal… I’d say it cost us at least a full day’s productivity, if not more.” Musk’s ability to simultaneously email all federal workers was described as “illegal” by a federal judge last week in a lawsuit brought by the American Federation of Government Employees. The same judge ruled that OPM has no authority to layoff federal workers.

During my last 5 years in the IT industry, I have often asked myself what makes a successful IT consultant.

I have definitely learned that success requires more than just technical knowledge. Here I share the 5 most important lessons I've learned:

:blobcoffee: Support and consulting are not the same thing, but they are often very close
:blobcoffee: Many people simply want a short, clear answer to their problem.
:blobcoffee: As a student, I used to think of 5 minutes as “no time”. Today, I think of everything that can be done in 5–10 minutes.
:blobcoffee: With the "problem-solving-framework" you have a heuristic tool to reduce a lot of cognitive load when solving a request question.
:blobcoffee: Train the customer instead of doing everything for him changes the customer relationship and builds trust.
