#xsane

I just scanned a document using my GNU/Linux scanning software of choice: XSane.

When I started with GNU/Linux in 2000, I also used XSane.

I think it might be the same version: 0.999.

How software should work: No nonsense, options all laid out, does exactly what you tell it, no mistakes in 25 years. Even if it is clunky.

Worth a salute, I think.

Hello alltogether, I have a question concerning scanning with Linux (Manjaro Linux, scanning with xsane, Scanner Canon DR-F120).
1. Only document feed is working, flatbed gives the error "feed is empty".
2. (more important) When I perform a preview scan, everything is fine, but when scanning, the colors are false. Magenta turns green and things like that. You can read it, but it would be cool, if the colors were fine.
Canon has no support for Linux 😞

Is that a quidditch snitch in her hand?

This engraving was made to sell the borders in it, & appeared in a printer’s catalogue of 1917.

@davidrevoy @nekohayo Silly as it may sound, you'll almost always get best results by photographing the print in raw on a camera you trust. If you must scan them on a flatbed though, I'd recommend using the tried-n-true #xsane, as it gives you the ability to adjust the image during scan/preview in far greater detail than many other scanner programs. It also gives you the option to use ICM/ICC Profiles.
