I *really* want to shift from Google Home to Home Assistant, freeing myself of the need for the data-hoovering platform, but damn it, HA is such a hurdle, even for a nerd like me.
Add a new thing to Google Home, a few clicks and it's there. The interface is neat and tidy. Things are placed in pretty sensible groupings. Automations are fairly straightforward.
Add a new thing to HA, add the integration (fair enough), figure out the difference between devices and entities, add an unsupported feature from Github, install something via HASS, configure some kind of API access at the manufacturer website, try to get a widget that doesn't look rubbish, device is *probably* useable. Swear under breath. Sacrifice goat.
HA has a long-assed way to go.
