⌚🔌 For those who heard me cry after successfully fix my watch because I lost its charging cable:

I finally found the charging cable for my #PebbleTimeSteel and it is currently charging, Yay \o/

😊 What is more #nostalgia for you :

⌚ The #pebble charging animation ?

📱The old #UbuntuTouch phone ads music in the background :D ?

NB: I am now using a #Fairphone5 running Ubuntu Touch with my #PebbleTimeSteel paired !

The #Humane Pin has died and #HP has killed it. The burial of last year’s tech darling, DOA as its concept was from the get-go, isn’t that important in itself, but continues the troubling trend of things we buy dying unnatural deaths. #obsolescence #Apple #GM #cloud #ai #opensource #pebble #rebble #smartwatch reviews.ofb.biz/sa1290

I do like my Ticwatch 5 but the battery just bugs me, even with essential mode. I do wonder, do I really need most of the things it supports in #wearos

I am gobsmacked by the unexpected good news just shared by @rebble: Google released the #PebbleOS code as #FreeSoftware (Apache license), #Rebble obtained the source code for Snowy, #EricMigicovsky is planning to produce a new #PebbleWatch, and the Rebble team is planning another #Hackathon. Just wow. Thank you, @ishotjr, @Katharine (and all others not easily reachable via the fediverse).

Last night my #Pebble Time crashed badly. The screen only showed an URL to troubleshoot it except... the web it was pointing to had been long dead since Fitbit bought Pebble in 2016 and Google bought Fitbit later, and the hard redirect loaded a generic 404 page. Dayum.

But thanks to the #Rebble team, who have been maintaining this workable piece of tech alive, a legacy page with instructions has been properly kept that pops up when searching the original link. In a matter of minutes I was able to recover my watch, reflash the firmware and have it alive again as if nothing had happened.

The moral of the story is:
- Big corpos suck, they won't let us have nice things.
- I hope Google burns to the ground.
- Yay, FOSS.
- Treat your furries and queer pals nice, they do care and will rescue your cute devices even in the direst situations.
