If anyone knows how to fix the "org.freedesktop.dbus.error.serviceunknown" error for the Tuba Flatpack in Xubuntu let me know!

In theory I've all the necessary software installed for the app to access the gnome keyring, not sure what I'm missing

www.bluesabre.orgXubuntu Development Update February 2025The Xubuntu development update for February 2025 features a 24.04 point release, 25.04 Feature Freeze, RISC-V updates, and much more.

I remember in the late 90s installing Red Hat #Linux for the first time, booting into X, and thinking "OMG I'm in love".

That feeling has never dissipated.

I hopped from Red Hat to Mandrake and then to Ubuntu and loved every minute. Then I discovered gaming and, to my regret, I had to use Windows.

Nowadays, my life is very different - I became more and more disabled over the years - and found myself having to survive on benefits.

I have 2 machines: a 2014 MacBook Air and an 8 year old PC. The laptop cannot run MacOS and support for Windows10 was being withdrawn. Being on benefits, buying a new machine is out of the question. Money is just too tight. So, once again, I was drawn to Linux.

I installed #Xubuntu on the laptop and #Kubuntu on the PC. It has breathed new life into both computers. They run flawlessly and am incredibly grateful for them.

If and when the time comes where I can afford a new PC, I won't be effing around. Linux will be installed on it.

M$/Apple are my past.

Do you have a few minutes to spare in the next few days? Mind testing a @xubuntu point release?

#Xubuntu 24.04.2 is ready for testing on iso.qa.ubuntu.com/qatracker/mi

It features #Linux kernel 6.11 (formerly 6.8) and numerous bug fixes, including the obscure xfce4-panel crash on close: bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sou

For an in-depth look at the package changes, you can take a peek at our manifest diff: github.com/Xubuntu/xubuntu-man

Thanks for any testing you can provide (and record in the test tracker)!

I'm happy I solved a #Linux problem myself, without the internet's help.

Couldn't successfully "sudo snap refresh firefox" on Xubuntu 24.10 without a couple head-scratching errors. I had a typo in /etc/fstab (fixed) and needed to install hunspell (why? It seems to be a dependency now that wasn't getting pulled in? 🤷‍♀️). But all's well now.

:xubuntu: mastodon.uno/@xubuntu@floss.so

:xubuntu: @xubuntu

daje, svuotiamo X!!

Today, I am grateful for the technology I have surrounding me.

I have an 8 year old desktop running #Kubuntu and a 2014 MacBook Air running #Xubuntu. Both run flawlessly. My needs are not too demanding and these two machines do the job nicely.

I do wish I could afford new equipment but as a disabled person living in the UK under 45 years of successive right-wing governments, I'm not holding my breath.

I remember years ago before my illnesses/disablities fscked me over, I always had the latest tech. They were good days.

This year, my dream is to buy a refurbished Thinkpad because I know #Linux runs so well on them, but, for now, I'm satisfied with what I have :)
